Anger Management
I’m amazed I don’t seem to have watched this since first seeing it on the big screen 4 years ago, and even more amazed that at that time I bothered to see it on the big screen, much as to my surprise I enjoyed it at the time (I really wasn’t going to the cinema much then, I’m sure). It is a surprisingly wonderful movie, though – though it does, I admit, lose some of the sharpness it had so soon after 9/11. But aside from the airbourne opening and the Giuliani cameo at the end etc, this is still up there with the most cutesy, mainstream, enjoyable Sandler movies – think Big Daddy and Mr. Deeds. There was much here I’d forgotten about – including the cameos of Heather Graham and John C. Reilly – along with much I remembered all too well and couldn’t wait to come around again … the “I Feel Pretty” stuff, the McEnroe cameo, Woody Harrelson’s fantastic turn as Galaxia (“Lady! Gentleman! Lentleman!”) It’s one of my favourite Jack Nicholson performances (I know that’s probably heresy) and I’ll watch it plenty times again.
