This couldn’t be more different from Bergman’s Autumn Sonata, which I watched immediately before (I have to say though, part of me appreciated the relief). Here the director seems to me to be channeling oddball experimental directors like Luis Bunuel and Jean-Luc Godard, bringing a farce to the screen that resembles an only slightly more artsy Pink Panther type movie. There are funny moments, and it’s also pretty sexy, but I don’t see myself watching it again.
