As with the first Fantastic Four, colour me very surprised by how much I enjoyed this. The comedy is still rampant, the visual effects even better than before, it has the best Stan Lee cameo since Mallrats. It goes to darker territory than the first, it kinda can’t avoid it with all the Silver Surfer implies – but it is the humour that rules all. I find it heartening that this still begins with the same Marvel logos of most of the recent superhero adaptations and remakes, yet they’re clearly not concerned with making them all the same way. I actually think I liked this one even more than the first, and I might even be turning into a bit of a fan.
